ARE YOU DOING IT FOR YOU? (A POEM)
You wake up early in the morning spend 2 hours getting dressed
You make sure everything is perfect to the tee, you want to impress
Your eye lashes so long that you’re always blinking
“What can I do better” you are always thinking
Your heels are 5 inches and walking is a chore
Still not tall enough you want an inch more
You spend hours in the salon to get the perfect hair
Hoping that as you walk everyone would stare
You got your nails done long it’s kind of hard to type
You got your toes done too although they don’t see much light
You can’t help eating but soon your finger’s down your throat
You want to be a size 4 and that seems like your only hope
You want the perfect body you want to be tone
You make a trip to the doctor to get some silicone
You use creams and soaps just to change your complextion
Very soon you look in the mirror and don’t recognize the reflection
Please don’t be confused by the message in this all
There is nothing wrong with looking pretty as a doll
But just know your limits you can set the bar
Don’t over do it don’t go too far
Whenever someone wants you to change and it makes you feel blue
Ask yourself ARE YOU DOING IT FOR YOU?
Just a side note people we always want to be the best person we can be in every way. None of us are perfect and that is a fact. In your quest to be better just don’t do anything that hurts you or you don’t want to do. The truth is whoever we are trying to impress does not care about us if looks are all that matter to them. Try and surround yourself with people who want to be around you for YOU.
